Sergeant Frank Fahy looked less like a policeman, yet no officer achieved more than he in detection and actual prevention of crime. As an undercover agent of the Sydney C.I.B. in the 1920's and '30's he proved an exemplary 'shadower', showing the tenacity of a bloodhound. He was only known to a very small number of police, so had to, in order to safeguard his undercover identity, deal not only with dangerous and violent criminals, but with the police themselves. He followed safe-breakers, counterfeiters, bank robbers and con artists and helped to convict many professional criminals. However, his exploits could never, during his lifetime, be acknowledged or given public recognition, so this book gives an account of this talented and effective officer of the law.
