This book is a collection of photographs of Aborigines posed inside studios. These offer a glimpse of the transition that Aboriginal people of southern Queensland experienced from the 1860s through to the 1920s. From early photographs that look 'staged' to later, more formal family portraits, all the subjects command our attention with their strength and vulnerablitiy. They are poeple who have lived through a period of enormous change.
