Despite plans to enjoy a quiet retirement after a nursing career spanning three decades, Judy Steel found herself in Uganda, at the age of 57, providing medical aid to some of Africa's poorest people.

Here was a seemingly ordinary woman from Adelaide- a wife, mother and grandmother- spending her retirement years working tirelessly in the slums of Kampala.

Beginning in 1999, Judy Steel has been back to Uganda 7 times. She set up a charitable organisation that helped establish a hospital, health clinic, and much more. This story is about resilience and renewal in the face of poverty and earth.
