How do I set up an account?

To shop on our website, you will need to create an account. This can be done at the start of your session or later, when you're ready to check-out. You'll only need to do this once - the site will remember your details next time you log in. Please be assured that for privacy and security reasons, we will not store credit card details under any circumstances.

How do I place my order?

Once you have selected your book for purchase, click on the title which will then navigate you to information on the book's condition, year of publication and price. If there are multiple copies of this book they will be listed separately. Select the copy you'd like to purchase and add it to the shopping cart. Once you have completed this process, click the ‘check-out’ button to make your payment.

Why is there no ‘Add to Cart’ function when I click on a book?

Following its purchase, a book may take up to 24 hours to be removed from the Brotherhood Books website. The ‘Add to Cart’ button, however, will disappear, so if you click on a book and are unable to add it to your cart, that book has already been sold.

How do I pay?

You can pay via PayPal or with your credit card. You'll receive an email from us once your order has been received, then again when your payment has been processed. If you do not receive the payment transaction email, your order has not been finalised. In this case, please try ordering again, or contact us at

What is your delivery policy?

Brotherhood Books provides free freight for orders of three books or more. To keep costs down, and unless specific arrangements have been made with us via, the books will be delivered by a ‘safe drop’. This means your order will be left at your doorstep or letterbox. Please provide a secure delivery address for packages to be left in your absence.

How do I redeem my gift certificate?

There are three steps to redeeming your gift certificate.

  1. When a gift certificate is purchased, an account with an email address and password is generated and emailed to you. Login with this email address and password. Didn't receive an email? Email us and we will confirm your account details for you.

  2. Go to your profile page. If you have a certificate(s) to redeem, click the button that says "Redeem your gift certificate(s)".

  3. Enter your gift certificate code and click redeem. You will now return to your profile page where you will see the amount deducted from your account balance.

Why didn't I receive my gift certificate?

If you are a Gmail user please be aware that emails from Brotherhood Books may appear in your Promotions inbox instead of your Primary inbox. To ensure that you continue to receive emails from us, please follow the instructions located at Gmail help or add to your address book. If you are still experiencing issues please contact us.

What is your returns policy?

As all of our books are recycled, we do not accept returns. If your order is incorrect or the book has been damaged, please contact us at

Can I cancel my order?

If you decide not to go ahead with your purchase please contact us within 24 hours of placing your order. If your order has not already been despatched a full refund will be issued.

How do I donate books?

Thank you for thinking of us in regard to donating your books. Please note we are unable to accept ex-library books, and damaged or dirty books.

For donations of a minimum of eight boxes of books, we offer a free collection service throughout Greater Melbourne. To book your collection please call 1300 DONATE (1300 366 283).

We also accept small donations at any one of our twenty community stores located across Melbourne. Find your nearest store.

Unfortunately our budget does not extend to interstate transportation.

Brotherhood Books is an online bookstore, so we don’t have a physical location. All books are uploaded onto our website and you can search, purchase and have books delivered to you from here.
