After training with the RAAF, Geoff Taylor became a pilot in RAF Bomber Command, taking part in a large scale raid on Germany, dropping 2,500 tons of high explosives and incendiaries in the centre of Hanover. Following this raid Geoff finds himself baled out of his craft and on the ground in Germany. From here on its is a story of wandering alone, capture, prison camps, attempts to escape and eventual release. Vivid descriptions of his fellow prisoners, his captors and their eventual disintegration as Germany shrinks between the oncoming hordes of Allied armies, make this memoir a highly memorable war book.
